Default Just bought "Poor Man's Steadicam" - COOL!

This was recommended on another thread here. Saw it, and for the price ($39 plus shipping) thought I couldn't go wrong. It arrived today, and I put it through it's paces. For the $$$, this thing is stupid simple and VERY effective. My main use for this will be an on-stage camera for concert films. I will post examples after my next shoot.

Yes, a monopod would be a great stablizer, but this also provides a really cool set of possibilities when shooting the kind of stuff that I do.

Just wanted to pass on my thoughts.

Cool site, and nice package (video/cpu/truck)! You have any pics of your HV20 with the poormans steady?
I use an velcro ankle weight on the bottom of my mono pod as I like to have my left hand free to ride the F and Z. (pics and footy to come)

I aspire to the mobile production studio, cheaper than a mortgage payment/rent here in LA! Any how, cool site (Check it out fellow HV20tists)

PS If you need a camera/tech guy around christmas/new years I will be with the family in Central Florida! Hit my private message box if you care to see a resume, thank you!

Default Here's a JPEG of my "Poor Man's Steadycam"

That's my darling 9 year old daughter holding the thing with the HV20 mounted on top with the Rode SVM & dead cat on top of the HV20. It'll take some gettin' used to, but I'm really looking forward to using it. I need to come up with some quick release rig that would mount to the top of the PMS (Poor Man's Steadycam). That's the only thing I'm not wild about, but again for the $$$, this PMS ROCKS!

Good article, I have a Glidecam 4000 from my VX2000 days, but I might be missing some parts/screws, may try to build this.

Seriously though, I agree. I built one almost a year ago and it really works well. The only thing I am disappointed with is that it cost me $15 instead of the $14 that he said it would. Inflation......
