I think the best feature of this camera is 60fps. However the price is super steep and looks like it will be on parr with 2/3" Scarlet (if RED actually starts production). I don't get why is Sony crippling their products, but in short it's getting to the point of annoying. Hope Canon starts producing 35mm sensor video camera soon.

You'll be able to light with a flashlight (torch in the UK) or two and still have it look good.

I'm waiting for people to start getting production units, and to start seeing realistic low budget shooting. Kit lens and nikons, not zeiss Cp2. I want realistic side by side with AF-100. Phillip Bloom's tests looked quite similar, especially in daylight. The matchlight test is where sony blows away the competition, but the panasonic actually looked more realistic in its low-light rendering. do we really need to shoot brighter than we can see? I want to see cameras compared with cheap lenses a lowel lights and then see if there is a tangible difference in look or production value.

im closer than I have ever been to pulling the trigger on this cam, I just keep looking at the f3 too though. My biggest issue is the need for new glass. I find it difficult to fathem putting out this kind of money for a camera them tarnishing it's ability with 35mm photo lenses, not that I couldn't get a decent image, it's just the image from a set of ziess, or cooke would be soooo much better, and a lot easier to work with, The throw on some of the photgraph lenses is rediculous to try and work with. I mean yeah, I have grown use to using them, but most ac's would be like "what the hell"

I also read yesterday the build quality is not very good on the fs100, although thats just one opinion, but it really doesn't suprise me that much seeing as we live in a diposable society.

Im going to put out a feeler thread on some gear, to see if it draws some interest, if it does I will probably take the plunge soon. I have the money, but my wife will go ballistic if I buy another camera without selling some of the others first.

They are going to make this for the FS100

According to Erik the mount for the Sony FS-100 will have the same featureset and could be available by the end of summer."

I liked the FS100 the best. I suppose it is subjective.

For anyone having trouble finding either the Sony NEX-FS100 or the Sony PMW-F3 - we have inventory of both.

Here's a wedding video I came across on vimeo. This video makes me want to pull the trigger on this camera. A lot of the shots were shot on the relatively cheap tokina 11-16.

I'm not seeing anything particularly special about it beyond plenty of shooting and post subtleties.

Talk about glass half empty! I watch a lot of large sensor DSLR videos and I'm seeing a much better quality all around with this video. The image quality is so amazing you can literally see the humidity in the air. As far as editing/shooting, yeah I agree it's nothing special. He basically just pulled all his "magic" shots, it's nothing special as long as you have a couple that wants to spend half their wedding day in a park with a videographer, lol.

I checked ebay and there's only like 1 used FS100 for sale, and it's much higher than the $4k used price I read somewhere online. The ND filter of the newer FS700 would have helped with the blown out skyline in a lot of those shots, but the price on that thing is way up there at $8k.

That's really chump change though professionally. Almost every photographer I've ever worked with walks around with $10k worth of gear in their bag. It makes me look pretty cheap with my little rebel when the photographer has 3 cameras in his bag that shoots better video than me, lol.

I'm considering selling all of my gear (and finding cash somehow) and just buying 1 video camera. If I stay with DSLR I'm thinking of switching to Nikon at a later time when I have extra play cash. Nikon seems much more professional and just feels like gold when you hold them compared to the plastic Canon bodies.

Anyone know if this video camera will have moiré issues? I had actually bought and used their NEX-VG10 model briefly some time ago, but ended up returning it due to all the image crawl I kept seeing. It doesn't seem to bother others but it drove me nuts to where I preferred the footage coming from a lowly 550v to what I was getting on the vg10. Hence now I get a nervous twitch anytime I read dslr sensor in a video camera.

You get what you pay for. Even mediocre photographers go to jobs with several camera bodies and lenses worth $10k. You can't expect the world on a platter with under $5k in gear if you want to be a pixel peeper. The super 35mm sensor cameras like the FS100 really shine for their dynamic range and low light capabilities. However the Smaller sensor cameras with multiple sensors have better daylight performance.

Well, he has a point. Sony simply makes the best cameras, together with Canon, Panasonic, JVC, Red, Arri, BlackMagic and some others.
