Because he's a fucking SPAMMER-bitch!
(Just copy & paste some of his SPAM posts into google, and you'll see he's posting verbatim crap all over.)
He's the KineRAW's SPAMMER bitch, trying to promote it on the (Western) internet sites.
I liked the KineRAW for what they're doing and Dan for posting here, until I realized he's just another lazy-arse SPAMMER
who doesn't think we're worth his time to write a unique message.
Hey, it's EASIER to copy & paste after all, right, Dan-the-SPAM-bitch???
Fuck KineRAW!!!

Look Dan,
1) Just stop posting SPAM, and I'll delete all nasty posts.
2) Keep posting SPAM, and the nastiness continues. I don't tolerate SPAM on this forum.
LOL he even used the trademark logo to protect his shit... who the F would do that.... UNLESS IT WAS COPY AND PASTED?!!!!??!

While I agree that most of Dan's posts here up until now have violated HV20.com's stricter-than-most policy against copypasta SPAM (as the forum owner and several members have already made clear), I trust after this unfortunate episode he's learned that lesson.
While he probably won't remember this, I've actually spoken to Dan Hudgins on the phone: sometime in the mid-'80s, he wrote a 3D CAD program that would run on a 286 with half a meg of RAM and a Hercules monochrome graphics card, and distributed it as shareware. I tried it and liked it so much I ordered the "full version," which came in a box full of 5-1/4" floppy discs accompanied by an oversize User Manual as thick as a small town phone book. Dan called me and ... tried to talk me out of buying it! (It didn't work, and in fact up until just a few years ago I was still installing DANCAD3D™ on throw-away computers to use as science-fiction set dressing: it came with an elaborate vector model of a robot arm that even the lowliest PC could "spin" on screen.)
Since then, I've learned from his own website and contributions at this and other forums that he has been tinkering with motion picture equipment just as long as he's been tinkering with software. I'd say he enjoys making outmoded and unfashionable technology perform beyond expectations. Sort of a mad-scientist, garage-inventor type, who can come across as a bit of an eccentric, but who knows an awful lot about subjects including computer imaging and arcane lenses made by long-defunct manufacturers, and whom I'd characterize as genuine and generous in his efforts to share his ingenuity on the web. His software is essentially in perpetual beta because he develops it primarily for his own use as a hobby, but he offers it for free download and only requests that his authorship rights be respected and that if you use it commercially, you pay for it. (I'm guessing he's been burned on that last bit before, which probably accounts for his liberal use of copyright and trademark symbols.)
I'm not surprised Dan leapt at the chance to test the Kinefinity, nor that the company would offer him that chance: he's not the sort to be daunted by incomplete camera firmware or software support, and I'm sure he was curious if Kinefinity could deliver cinema quality at a used-car price. He took some fairly challenging test footage, gave it a warts-and-all basic color grade and posted it for folks to argue over. I feel like I learned something from watching it. I'm glad he posted it here, because I personally haven't seen anything else from that camera other than a few stills.
JM2C & YMMV.![]()
I also spoke with Mr. Hudgins on the phone in the 80's. I was 2, and he was nice guy.
I appreciate your comments, Erik.
My comments may seem unusually harsh, and unfair even.
However, since we don't have any advertising whatsoever on this site, I do get pissed off if I sense that someone
may be taking advantage of this site that i am paying a hefty monthly fee for....really with no monetary return.
So, the ONLY thing I ask for, is that if someone wants to promote a product or service or whatever, they DO NOT
copy and paste their message in this forum, but take a few minutes to personalize it.
It's not really that much to ask for, in my opinion.
Yet, even that seems to much effort for some...
"His shit", I am not part of Kinefinity.com (sm) and am not posting about their cameras because I have the potential for some stake in their profits. I am talking about some free and freeish software I am the author of and was interested in their cameras because the can record 100% uncompressed CinemaDNG frames for processing in that software as well as many other worflows.
Its true that you cannot see what makes the camera special by viewing compressed frames such as JPG and H.264 because so much of the original texture and fine detail gets lost. If you view compressed camera images on a compressed medium, the results are more equal because so much detail was filtered out in the compressed cameras recording in the first place that re-compression shows less of a change maybe.
I was updating the progress here because it seemed that the thread showed some interest in the camera development, but if there is no interest in continued updates someone in a position of authority from the forum could have just sent me an email asking me to no longer post updates here.
If anyone with an interest does read this they can email me directly or the camera maker with their questions, in my case questions would relate to my software support for DNG recording cameras and you should follow the support guidelines at my web site. I'm not sure what your definition of SPAM is, for my part my post were not in any way targeted to my own financial gain as my de-Bayer program is a free download, I just posted v0.07 today which adds audio extraction support for the Acam dII (tm). I apologize if I have missed any relevant questions as I was trying to make a sincere effort to explain how my free DI system works with their DNG recording cameras.
In addition to people that are known to "SPAM" for their own interests are people that have an ax to grind because THEY have in interest in some other product or service, so one can ask the question both ways.
He only responded to my posts and ignored a lot of the other posts regarding his SPAM haha and continues to throw in his software
