Default "The Outbreak" - Short Film (HV30)

Hey guys, I've been taking into account the advice that you gave on the last video I posted and tried to do something a bit more serious and dark this time. I also booted narration and took the whole mp3 clipping thing into account.

We filmed this at a swamp near our town, which turned out to be a pretty interesting environment to work in. It was shot on an HV30, no extra lenses or mics were used, just the bare model. Hope you enjoy!

Wuoyrd, I liked it. well shot. some great angles, you used foreground shots really well, it had a cinematic look to it, considering using stock cam. i liked the concept of the "hallucination". As always Sound could be better, and i am sure you already know that. so i am not saying it as a"dig". Janke, is the sound guy on here, and he knows his stuff. take any advice you can from him. you have an eye for creating shots from limited amount of angles. Keep up the good work.

    Interesting.

Despite the location being VERY neat, it did get boring after a while.

Decent effort overall. And it was refreshing to see a short WITHOUT too much color correction.

    Well done.

Nice shots, but some auto-exposure compensation going on. Try to lock an exposure for the scene and try to stick with it unless the lighting really changes.

    Nice work.

As dop16mm said ... "lock the exposure" ...... ALWAYS lock it.
If the lighting changes, reset the exposure, lock it and re shoot if necessary.

It's the BEST tool to know about the Vixias. It'll do you wonders once you know how to use it, trust me!

The shaky cam is a bit off putting, especially on the scenic cut ins. The wind rumble is bad too; I'm not sure how avoid this using camera mics. Maybe there's a DIY solution? There are some clips here where you could've lost the rumble in post.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

I only watched in on the iPad. if that is your audience, then the sound ok.

Get a tripod and watch your exposure. Dark was the right word.
