Two options to get footage from tape to disk - Which to choose?
I have a HV30 that has a faulty display that I recently replaced with a new HV40:
Since I always transfer the footage from tape to disk I have two options at least to do it but I need your advice which is the best ( if there is a best way to do it ).
One option is to after a foto session connect the charger and FW cables to the new HV40 and move the content to the computer and when ready disconnect the cables with the slight but risk of breaking connectors and perhaps the FW circuitry.
The other option is to use the faulty HV30 as a "unloader" permenantly connected to the computer and move the tape casette form the HV40 to HV30, transfer the footage and then move the casette back to the HV40 for next foto session on the other hand risking to break or wear the casette mechanism on either of the units.
Do you have any advice on which is the best way to do ( if there is any ) ?

Use your faulty one. If it works for capturing tapes, then put it to use doing that. Save a little wear on your HV40 and leave it just for shooting.

Thanks, seems as a good piece of advice.
