A NEW HV30 problem.
I've been using my HV30 for a long time, in combination with iMovie HD 6.0.4, and there's never been a problem - until now.
I downloaded a tape from the HV30 into iMove HD and it worked fine - as it always has. After removing that tape and inserting a second tape it was impossible to get the HV30 to connect. I tried a new project with the second tape but still no connection.
I've seen 'CAPTURE problems with the HV20/30 on a Mac' a thread in this forum and I've tried all the suggestions mentioned in that thread but nothing would work. The thread (by Eugenia Loli-Queru) has now been closed, so I don't know where to go.
Please, can someone give me any further help with this capture problem into iMovie?

Is it possible that the format on the second tape is different - SD vs HD ?

Thanks for your reply. The tapes are exactly the same format - DV (Standard Definition) - NOT HD.

And both are either standard 4:3 or widescreen 16:9, not mixed?
Any blank portions on the tape? Try running a scene, stop the camera, switch it off, re-start iMovie, switch on the camera. That sometimes helps.

For starters take the tape out of the equation. Insert the first tape back in and see if you can capture again. I highly doubt the tape has anything to do with the issue.
