Thanks, Frank. I was lucky to get a WB done at all as we were 30 minutes late to the venue. My audio guy role has me hanging an H4N for the audience applause and placing mikes in the announcer booth; then I run over and set up camera stuff. As the show was starting, I was twisting the sensitivity knob on the zoom controller. Crazy.
A footnote to this thread -- I ran both cameras through the free AAV plugin via Vegas and corrected color and contrast (the Vimeo excerpt now reflects this). I always do this last in the workflow, just prior to authoring the disc, after waiting a few days to get some distance from the material. There was an unnatural color cast over the picture from both cameras that I was trying to correct for. The HFG10 has a view that includes windows with a different temperature lighting in them at the end of the rink and that still looks odd, but otherwise the color is fairly realistic. Another phenomena that can happen is that the rink lights change as they heat up. It is always a best effort/how much time do you want to spend kind of thing to correct for.
