Default "Close Me Out" Artsy short film

Hey guys, this is kinda a blah 'artsy' film. Just thought I'd share, shot with Canon t2i standard everything.

I quite liked it! What I kinda got from it was the guy tied down by his past and the teddy bear representing that nostalgia and the little girl coming to take it, having to let that part of him go. I don't know the intention, but good either way!

Firstly, let's get out of the way what I PERSONALLY disliked, and this is all personal preference, the film stands up on its own, this is just me being picky: I didn't like the main performance by the lead, i found it to be lacking in emotional quantity, I didn't like the pace of the editing, I didn't like colours, they seemed to not only be too dragged one way or another in shots, but also they seemed to change between shots in a particular sequence (I don't know if this was intentional or not) - I didn't like the choice of soundtrack.

Now, let me close that paragraph off by saying that's all my personal preference, for how I'd attack a project like this, I'd make it more dramatic personally. I'd make a cross over between J.J.Abrams and Aronofsky - with a hint of David Lynch. I'd try and make it very melodramatic and very in your face. I understand why you decided not to do that, and it works your way.

All in all it's a really nice piece of film, I enjoyed watching it, it held my attention, well filmed, some really nice cinematography in there, this is something to be proud off! Well done.

It's pretty. I think it's fun to make these sorts of experimental pieces. Honestly, it would have held my attention more if the main character was a cute girl rather than a cute boy. Since there's nothing in the way of dialog or what not, eye candy is important. Obviously that's in the eye of the beholder and many will be content with your choice of eye candy.

Thanks for the input. The main flaw as you all mentioned was the lack of 'emotion' this gave to the audience. Something i have to work on. Thanks for checking it out anyways.

It was a good little short. Artistic as wish! =) We can't really criticise the aesthetic or technical part of it as it was such an artistic piece of video.
Technically, except the little color issue between some takes, I thought it was shaky. Intended, it would be ok as it's an artistic & personal choice down to individual tastes. I, personally, with the feeling of this short (with the music and all) would have preached the use of a tripod, for smooth and steady shots. I think it would have probably fitted better with the genre, but as I said, it's a question of tastes here.
Acting wasn't bad: no one of us (unless a very few among us) are solid actors! For amateur work (nothing bad in that comment) it's plenty enough.

All in all, it was a great little short film, and I admire you to have shared it with us. Such work isn't the easiest to share with others, especially online. Kudos!
I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT TO. I WANT TO BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDN'T.

Thanks allot drapes, I do agree, my colors were off for sure. Thank's for checking it out. And it was kinda hard to show this to people, especially that I put it on facebook because really I just wanted one person to see it, but I had to do what I had to do.
