Converting Legria to Vixia - how?
I have three Legrias: HV20 and two HV30. I guess that the construction of Vixias is the same, but something in the firmware sets one of the profiles: pal or ntsc region.
I'd like to try shooting something in 30 fps with multiple cameras, as the picture looks more realistic in higher frame rate. So, is there any way to change the camera's profile by loading some firmware or using chdk-like utility?

Okay, my bad.

Now I'm trying to figure out what gain limiting is :)

Hi Valet2, and welcome to the forum!
The "gain limiting" feature of the firmware hack is something many of us hoped for with the HV series, since in low-light conditions the cameras will add analog gain (with no indication given), unless the user takes some fairly awkward steps to prevent it. This analog amplification often results in grainy picture noise which is difficult to see in the camera's small viewfinder or LCD screen.
The good news is, jollyrogerxp figured out how to hack the gain and specify the maximum amount added. The bad news is, he couldn't figure out how to make the setting "stick" through a power cycle, meaning every time you power down the camera or change the battery, you need to re-flash the firmware to change this setting.

Yeah, that sucks. But thanks for informing!
I've found a super-mega info about this gain-thing: www.dvxuser.com/jason/hv20
