Default Has anybody used Premiere Elements 10?

Probably not, but does anybody have experience with this software? I'm looking for an inexpensive new editor for my Mac and this looks pretty good. It has two important things for me - unlimited video tracks and keyframing - which is impressive for an $80 software. I'm a little worried it might be a bit to basic for what I do though, and I'm not sure it will support Canon AVCHD. Currently my options are:

Continue using Sony Vegas Pro 8 in Bootcamp. The software works great but shutting down and opening Bootcamp is annoying, as well as having video files spread around multiple external drives that I can't easily transfer between Windows and Mac OS. Basically it's a pain.

Save up for FCPX. Probably the easiest option but I don't think I can justify $300 on software right now because I only edit once in a while. Also FCPX suuux.
    iMovie!!!!

Sell my car and buy FC Studio 7???

Also if anyone can recommend a DVD authoring software for $20 or less that'd be spiffy.

If you can wait, you can have Lightworks for free, or 60 bucks p.a., soon. Won't get more professional on the cheap.

Indefinitely! Where did you get this news from?

    Here's from the horse's mouth:
Actually, just to clarify: we are currently working on the Mac (OS X) version - we're not waiting until the Linux version is finished, but Linux is more advanced and is likely to be out first.

About your DVD authoring: The cheapest would be Roxio Toast for 100 some bucks. I got mine for 50 dollar or so in a Macupdate package alongside some ten other apps.
...or you could check for an iLive package on eBay for iDVD. I still use it when I do work for our Aquaculture Program (iDVD has that cute template with the fish).

FCS 3 is overkill if you only do the one or the other edit.

Premiere Elements should work fine with AVCHD. Both are made for soccer moms, so there can't be an issue.
    FCP X? What's that?

I'm leaning towards Elements 10. I got a demo and although it took me a while to peel away the layers of "neato-transitions" and "magic color correctors" it had one really good color corrector, levels, unlimited audio and video tracks, and a built in DVD burner that, uh, burns DVDs. All for $80. It plays well with my AVCHD footage. The drawback is that the UI is very hard to use on a small screen.
