'A spokesman for Honda Motor Co said that the Japanese automaker was studying the security of on-vehicle computer systems, but declined to discuss those efforts.'
So the Japanese have their heads up their asses, again.
'A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security declined to comment when asked how seriously the agency considers the risk that hackers could launch attacks on vehicles or say whether DHS had learned of any such incidents.'
And the Department is still too busy watching for ragheads.
"If your laptop crashes you'll have a bad day, but if your car crashes that could be life threatening," he said. "I don't think people need to panic now. But the future is really scary."
And finally, McAfee are still talking shit and keeping themselves employed.
A downside of high tech would be the type of obsession and time-wasting we are all, I'm sure, guilty of to one degree or another.

They just should use OS X![]()
"It is dark the other side. Very dark!" - "Oh, shut up and eat your toast!"
Because your car's super OS X computer has detected the bank vault's open and no one's bothered to come to work.
Sounds like a plan. OS X it is.
They didn't really demonstrate well how such a kill should take place.
Turning off lights? Applying brakes?
Sounds like a REAL killer to me! Sure death!
Another neat story that will keep morning TV show hosts amused for some time, as they can talk about killer cars,
whilst not having the foggiest idea what they are talking about, technically.
Pfff....
Making your car stereo change to one of them conservative or liberal talk stations (depending on your political orientation)? They didn't really demonstrate well how such a kill should take place.

Remember Toyota's brake (or was it accelerator) problems? That was simple electronics, not software.
Someday, a human will be killed "by" a computer - maybe it has happened already?
OTOH, people have been killed by bears, lions, wolves and even domestic dogs - so who really cares what kills you?
Personally, I hope to be under a falling safe or in front of the proverbial cement truck when my time comes; instant, hopefully painless. Others can clean up the mess...![]()
