Default Teaser trailer shot on HV40

    Hi,

This is my first time posting, but I have been reading the forums for some time in order to gain knowledge on how to get the best out of the little HV40.

Anyway I am working on making a movie called HogMaul - The legend of Abrams County. The movie is being directed by a good friend and I am acting and doing most of the camera work. We just finished the teaser trailer which was shot entirely on a HV40.

I shot the footage and recorded the sound. It was edited by another individual.

The equipment used was an HV40 with wide angle adapter, and a tascam DR-40 for the sound. I think it was edited in FCP with some work done in after effects.

Let me know what you think and check out our web site www.hogmaulmovie.com

    Thanks and Best Regards.

    Can't wait to see more.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I am really impressed with what the HV40 can accomplish with a little work.

It does look nice. Nice color.

Question: Did you disable image stabilization for this?

I'm seeing a bit of strangeness jitter with the blades of grass when the camera is moving and I was just wondering
    if IS is causing that.

Thanks you should see the color before correction it is very... ugly.

I am pretty sure I had the IS on for the shoot as I did not even know it existed until after we were finished, but I don't think that is what you are seeing.

I shot the footage at 24fps and the director in post wanted to slow down some of the clips. I think you are seeing artifacts that are from the slow motion affects. I know the editor was not entirely happy with the way the slow motion came out, but we were under a time constraint to get it finished.

    Thanks.

Just so you know, IS will try to compensate for camera motion and cause artifacts / jitter,
so when on a tripod or slider it's best to have IS turned off.

The main web site is running wordpress with a customized theme. I set it up initially then handed it over to two professional web designers and graphic artists I know. They did all of the amazing design and graphics. Their profiles are under the crew section on the site.

I am not sure how the splash page was made.

It is nice to be able to work with professionals, especially when they work for free.
